Soil Treatment

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) composite soil is a new kind of lightweight geomaterial, which is made of soil, binder, water, and EPS. Excessive settlements are big issues in geotechnical constructions in soft ground regions. The lighter the loadings on the constructions, the smaller the extra settlements are. The well-known super-lightweight EPS geofoam has played an important role in solving excessive settlement problems over soft ground. It is mainly used as a fill material for bridge abutments, embankments, and underground cavities. It is also used to part-fill the bottom of plant pots: it retains moisture; saves cost on high nutrient soil; it allows for free draining and improving soil aeriation.

  // Benefits

EPS composite soil is an environment-friendly material which can make use of recycled materials as its aggregates, including EPS waste and dredged mud.

Furthermore, the unit weight and strength of this material can be controlled easily with different mixture ratios according to the requirement of the project.

It has good durability under dynamic loading and long-term monotonic loading.

EPS composite soil can reduce lateral earth pressure significantly.

It has a low thermal-conductivity.

EPS is environmentally friendly: no CFC’s / no HCFC’s / ozone favorable / 100% recyclable.
